How Regular Affirmations Can Put You on a Path to Success
We’re going to start with one of the most cliché phrases of all time: Habits are difficult to change.
But then again, it also happens to be true! And somehow, have you ever noticed how it is so much easier to fall into bad habits than the good ones?!
For instance, as much as everyone wants to harp on about “positive thinking” and mindset, the truth is, very few people actually master the knack of looking at everything through that lens of positivity all the time.
One of the things that we have however come to really believe in is that everything is a mind-game. And we can actually be on top of it if we learn to train our minds and bodies to do so. The minute our insides begin to match our outsides, that sense of harmony and peace will be realised.
To that effect, here’s a small morning routine we developed for ourselves and saw the magic take occur!
We began with talking to ourselves for a few minutes at the start of the day – simple things like what we believe in, what we are going to achieve in the day, and the fact that it is going to be a productive day.
These few affirmations just at the start of the day changed how we went through the rest of it over a period of time!
Scientifically speaking though, when you repeat your affirmations, you start believing in them and just like exercise fuels up your body, this ritual trains your mind.
If you are someone who would like to give the concept of affirmations a try, here are a few things you could ask yourself before you begin:
- What would you like to change about yourself? – Write down the same in the present tense. For example, if you want to be an established author, don’t say ‘I want to be an established author’. You could say ‘I am an established author’
- What defines success for you? Your affirmations should get you excited to set out and achieve whatever it is you are after. However, before you do that, it is important to know what you are after - This increases the dedication towards achieving it
- What is the biggest thing standing between you and your goal? – Ensure that your affirmations talk about the fact that you have overcome that obstacle. As you create a world beyond these limitations, your mind and heart begin to build up the strength to make that visualisation a reality.
- Most importantly: Say it like you meant it- there is nothing in this world that can stop you, but you. Even if someone may stand against you in things you want, unless you allow it to stop you, nothing can come in your way.
The little time and effort that this routine asks from you, will pay you back in ways unimaginable.
Try it out, and let us know how you got over your challenges through affirmations?
Don’t bother about “what will others think or say” – the whole point of affirmations is to have an open dialogue with yourself. This is only between you and you. Don’t let anyone else come in the way!
